Eminem invests in lyric site Genius

According to Billboard, Eminem has become the latest investor in Genius. In addition to the monetary investment, Em will also annotate lyrics himself on the site.

"Coming up we would always obsess over the lyrics from our favorite MCs. Picking everything apart, trying to get into their heads," Eminem said in a statement. "I still do that today and Genius helps to make it a worldwide conversation. Pretty amazing to me."

Eminem's childhood home demolished

Eminem's childhood home in Detroit, featured on the album covers of The Marshall Mathers LP and its sequel The Marshall Mathers LP 2, was demolished last week. Officials at Michigan Land Bank, which owned the property, deemed it to be "structurally unsafe" following a fire earlier this month:

"The building's condition was a safety risk for citizens, and Land Bank is responsible for its removal. The goal is to demolish and clean up the land, so as to restore order and safety in the neighborhood."

It is a real shame it couldn't be saved...

Below, you can watch footage of the home being demolished.

Eminem in the new issue of Rolling Stone

Eminem Rolling Stone cover Sober and as big as ever, Slim Shady looks back on a life devoted to hip-hop.

The platinum-blond hair is back, and in so many ways - for the first time in years - Slim Shady truly is, too. In the new issue of Rolling Stone (on stands Friday), senior writer Brian Hiatt gets Eminem to reflect on his sobriety and a lifetime devoted to hip-hop in a more candid way than ever before.

"I'm as happy as I can be, I guess," Em reveals, later telling Hiatt, "Hip-hop saved my life, man. It's the only thing I've ever been even decent at. I don't know how to do anything else. I think they have a word for that - what do they call it? Idiot savant?"

Eminem stresses he was being intentionally spaced-out when he appeared alongside Brent Musburger on ESPN in September. In fact, he was channeling the Beastie Boys. "I knew we were about to show the 'Berzerk' video, so I was doing what I call the Berzerk face," he says. "The whole song to me feels like vintage Beastie Boys. And you know the 'Pass the Mic' video where Ad-Rock is making that face, kind of not looking the camera? I was doing my own version."

Eminem interview with Zane Love of BBC

Just two weeks after releasing his new album The Marshall Mathers LP 2, Eminem sat down with BBC Radio 1's Zane Lowe for a four-part interview. Part one has been released, and you can watch it above.

Eminem describes his latest project, as well as his six other studio albums as a snapshot of his life. "All my albums I think for the most part pretty much tell where I'm at," he says. "There's a lot of reflecting and things like that back on everything that was happening during that time. It's kind of like me reflecting on it and getting to the point where I'm with it now."

Eminem's MMLP2 tops "Billboard" with 792,000 copies!

Eminem's The Marshall Mathers LP 2 sold 792,000 copies its first week, enough to land at No. 1 in Billboard and score the second-biggest sales week of the year, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

MMLP2 marks Eminem's seventh No. 1 album -- all consecutive, and all debuts at No. 1. His only album to miss the top slot was his first release, 1999's "The Slim Shady LP." It debuted and peaked at No. 2.

Impressively, "MMLP2" posts a larger debut than Eminem's last album, 2010's "Recovery," which started with 741,000. Both albums bowed bigger than his previous set, 2009's "Relapse," which entered with 608,000.

Eminem's seventh consecutive UK No 1 album

Eminem has scored his seventh consecutive UK No 1 album, making him the first ever US artist to do so.

The Marshall Mathers LP 2 entered the charts at the top spot on 10 November, fending off competition from X Factor winner James Arthur, whose self-titled debut album entered at No 2, and Tinie Tempah's Demonstration, which entered at three.

Although seven albums in the top spot is a first for a US artist, the Beatles managed seven in a row, whereas both Led Zeppelin and Abba scored eight consecutive chart toppers.
